A bequest is a gift that you leave to QCGC Research in your Will. You can choose to give a portion of your estate, a set cash amount, real estate, shares, securities, life insurance and other assets such as works of art.

It is important that you word your Will correctly. The following wording is a guide only that you should give to your solicitor preparing your Will.  As QCGC Research Funds are administered through The University of Queensland, bequests left to QCGC Research will also be administered by The University.

Directed Purpose Clause
A directed purpose clause is a clause that specifies that the University may only apply the funds to the stated purpose.

"I give (my estate) or (specific percentage of my estate) or (specific asset) or (the residue of my estate) or (the sum of $______) to The University of Queensland to be applied directly towards the Queensland Centre for Gynaecological Cancer Research in the School of Medicine and to be used (nominate research area of choice OR state purposes as widely as possible). I declare that the receipt of The University of Queensland shall be sufficient discharge to my trustees."

Specific Purpose Clause
A specific purpose clause is a clause that allows that University a degree of flexibility in applying the bequest to the stated purpose. The University Senate has directed that the use of bequests must be kept as close as possible to the wishes expressed by the benefactor.

"I give (my estate) or (specific percentage of my estate) or (specific asset) or (the residue of my estate) or (the sum of $_______) to The University of Queensland for its general purposes. I express the wish but without creating any binding trust that if practicable this gift be applied to the Queensland Centre for Gynaecological Centre Research within the School of Medicine. I declare the receipt of The University of Queensland shall be sufficient discharge to my trustees."
