Dr Russell Land was born and bred in North Queensland and completed medical school in Brisbane in 1990. He went on to complete a Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He was then accepted for subspecialty training in Gynaecological Oncology which he completed over four years in London, Sydney, Perth and his hometown of Brisbane.

He has been a consultant gynaecologic oncologist with the Queensland Centre for Gynaecological Cancer since 2006 and also consults at Greenslopes Private Hospital where he is the Director of Gynaecology .He is the current chair for the Queensland Gynaecological Cancer Quality Assurance committee   He specialises in laparoscopic and robotic surgery and he takes an active role as co-investigator in many of the clinical trials QCGC participates in. His wife and four young children happily take up most of Russell's spare time.
