Dr Nascimento is a certified gynaecologic oncologist who specialises in the surgical treatment of known or suspected tumours of the female genital tract.  His areas of expertise include the management of patients with cancer of the ovary, endometrium, cervix, vulva, and vagina.  He also has special interest in providing minimally invasive surgical options for his patients, including laparoscopic procedures.

Originally from Brazil, Dr Nascimento graduated from medical school in 1993.  He received his board certification in obstetrics and gynaecology in 1996 and his general surgical oncology certificate in 1999.  He then completed one year as a research fellow at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and later became a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.  After three years of subspecialty training in gynaecological oncology in Brisbane and at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, he joined the QCGC team.

Dr Nascimento has been a consultant gynaecological oncologist with the Queensland Centre for Gynaecological Cancer at the Mater Hospital and Gold Coast Hospital since January 2008.  He conducts his private practice at the Mater Medical Centre and is currently a senior lecturer of the University of Queensland. He is co-investigator in several QCGC clinical trials.
