Dr. Naven Chetty completed his residency in Canberra, Newcastle and Sydney before going on to do specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology at the Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney.

This was followed by a two-year fellowship in laparoscopic surgery and urogynaecology at St Vincent's Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Women, Sydney.  Deciding to sub-specialise further, he completed the first year of a three-year gynaecological oncology training program at the Royal Hospital for Women, before moving to Brisbane for an additional two years at the Queensland Centre for Gynaecological Cancer (QCGC).

After gaining his sub-specialist qualification in gynaecologic oncology, Naven stayed on at QCGC.  He works predominately at the Mater public and private hospitals as well as holding an academic position at the University of Queensland.
